One hundred and fifty. Gosh, suddenly I feel young again, at least by comparison. I’m posting this in all of a hurry because I only just found out that it is Wellington’s 150th birthday party THIS weekend, and there are going to be all sorts of events going on – and going OFF !!! Including, most relevantly for this blog, many open buildings which are not normally open. So, like Government House, Parliament, ummm, and sorry, I haven’t got a list with me. But yes, there is quite a bit happening.
Did you know it was happening? I haven’t met anyone who has heard of it happening yet – maybe because I don’t read the paper any more – but Wellington City Council have put out a brochure – that I stumbled upon by mistake – and all the details are in there. Lots on! This weekend only! Saturday and Sunday only!!!
A PDF of that brochure is here. HTH
Of particular note to this forum is a new exhibition opening at the Webb Street Synagogue called Diaspora by Design: the Wellington Architecture of Refugees from Nazi Europe. There will be a talk on the subject by Plischke expert Prof Linda Tyler at 12pm on Sunday.
