Star Wars, Return of the Jedi, The Empire Strikes Back, and Rogue One – there are so many parallels with the current Rump administration, and so many audacious acts of a tyrant who could not give a shit about people on any planet than his own. Blowing up Luke’s home, blowing up Alderaan, demolishing the East Wing, these are all acts of a psychopath.

But also a great source of memes… and for something like Star Wars, there is no shortage of fan fiction, like this:

But we’re not going to follow that low-brow route, shamelessly riffing off JT Rump’s undeniable similarities to Mr Jabba of the Lower Hutt.

Instead, we just want to point out that the White House has been destroyed many times before, as noted in this list here:

Yes yes, I hear some of you say – he may have demolished the East Wing, but that doesn’t really count. It was just a relatively modern addition, mainly as a house for the Spouse, famously for Lady Bird Johnson. And now it has gone.

But don’t worry. This kind gentleman has offered to build a new one for free, from his own pocket, without touching the old one.

And so here it is – the only time the wider world has seen the plan, I believe. It is in a form of Classical style / Louis XIV style, according to his architects. In the picture above, under his left-hand claw, is what will be the front/back – which way does this damn thing go round? Just below that is a portico that will directly face the Treasury, on a symmetrical axis. At the other end, under his right hand two-fingered claw, is what looks like a grand staircase? In the middle of the big space / dining room I guess, are some 140 tables, so about seven rich fat bastards at each table paying megabucks each time for dinner, I guess. Although the architects involved, McCrery Architects, have gone all rather quiet on their website, so there is no further information there at present, there is one curiously classical drawing, with a column capital detail. Is this for Rump’s ballroom?

One last thing (I will return to Wellington subjects soon, I hope), is that of course he will name the Ballroom after himself, and when has he ever named a building without physically placing his name in large gold letter across the front?
