It’s back ! I thought it had gone away for good. But yesterday, and today… just wonderful summer daze. What a pity we are all back inside.
This guy, on the other hand, knows how to enjoy summer. Respect!
The classy thing here, of course, is the diving platform. When faced with people diving into the wharf cutout, WCC at first thought about making it illegal, and trying to stop people doing that – but then instead took the opposite stance, and actively built a most fantastic diving platform. This thing, whoever designed it, deserves awards!
How about the little pavilion next door? Sharp.
Its an early Roger Walker isn’t it? I know its meant to be a outpost for St Johns Ambulance, but that purple colour just makes me think of Cadburys. What was it for originally? Did it control the bridge or something?
Up there with the traffic cop lair on the side of the Thorndon motorway

Hmm, not sure about that one.
m-d and Starkive – that last reference from Starky is the one – its now the office of Craig and Colthart architects – there’s a nicer picture on their website page. A good practice of architects – fond of motorbikes, so they can be out on the road answering your call within minutes….
