On a small and temporary slant away from the woes, whys and wherefores of Wellington’s wonderful wacky edifaces and erections, we’d just like to note that the Eye of the Fish has been nominated for a TAWA by our fast and furiously blogging colleagues over at the Wellingtonista. It’s a great honour – we’re not worthy – especially as Tumeke says we have slipped to position 84 in the NZ Political Blogosphere. Oh No! Slipping! We’re almost off the radar folks! Only you can save us!
But first: a Warning. This blog entry may contain pictures of a “Well-known Vegetarian” doing unspeakable things to pregnant women. You have been warned.
Anyway, continuing on after that brief political announcement: Other nominees for the TAWA include Poneke, coffeeGeek Brenda Wallace, Webstock, and Wellingtonians on FlickR: all well deserving too, although there are a lot of other Wellingtonians blogging as well. I’m still not sure how Tumeke gets hold of all the info, but one thing is for sure: the more we post, and the more you comment, the higher up the greasy pole of bloggerdom we climb. There are a lot of people out there reading this blog (almost every architectural practice in Wellington it would seem), but typically just comments from a select few. And personally, all the TAWA nominations and Tumeke ratings in the world don’t matter a jot – what we really want to hear is your architectural commentary. So yes, that means you, in the black poloneck and the crewcut, or you in the corner with your coffee and your AutoCad rendering. Do feel free to join in, and do more than just watch. I know – “I like to watch” but joining in is so much more satisfying don’t you think?
On another offshoot subject, rightwing blogger Kiwiblog (apparently the most widely read in NZ) put out a lead to a Blog-rating website called Typealyzer, where you enter your blog web address, and it analyses your writing style in the blog and tells you what sort of personality you are, with results based on the Myers Briggs psychometric profiling system. We tried it and Eye of the Fish came out: ENTP – The Visionaries
The charming and trend savvy type. They are especially attuned to the big picture and anticipate trends. They often have sophisticated language skills and come across as witty and social. At the end of the day, however, they are pragmatic decision makers and have a good analytical abilitity. They enjoy work that lets them use their cleverness, great communication skills and knack for new exciting ventures. They have to look out not to become quitters, since they easily get bored when the creative exciting start-up phase is over.
Well that’s obviously us down to a T – in fact, even the picture looks startlingly similar!
I’m impressed. So we thought we’d go on, and try it out with the Wellingtonista crew. They’ve got an active large posting membership, and the Wellingtonista website comes up as: ESFP The Performers,
The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead – they are always in risk of exhausting themselves. They enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation – qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.
Ha ! Bang on there again, especially with their picture…. its like they were sitting in the room next to the cartoonist as it was drawn.
Pretty pretty pretty indeed. Shame about the unsuitability for management bit though. Ooops! Hick! Dropped my drink! Time to move on…
And yes, before we disappear to write up a far more serious blog, here’s that picture we warned you about, of a well-known vegetarian and pregnant women. Concerned – look away now! Its ironic and shocking to some, hugely hypocritical to others, but I thought it was rather nice.
